What is the Smartskills 101 Initiative?

SmartSkills 101 is a response to increasing needs for essential skills for students, educators and administrators. This is a program designed for progressive institutions that want a powerful solution for workforce development, college prep and to get young people ready for work and life.

SmartSkills 101 is the educational application of OneSmartWorld’s leading productivity and performance improvement system. Its foundation is anchored by 30 years of research, development and application in business and the public sector by OneSmarWorld founder, Bob Wiele, M.Ed.

The SmartSkills 101 Student Success Initiative is designed to give students more reason to stay in school. It offers the self-understanding and practical skills students need to transition to work or further education while providing a board sponsored certificate of proficiency in 5 Career Core Competencies [link] that have been repeatedly identified as essential to Student and School success.

The SmartSkills 101 Initiative has 2 programs:

1. 4D-i Student Success Edition: A focus on self understanding, identifying strengths, benchmarking personal preferences and profiling each student’s operating style with the online Project Me 4Dimensions Profile. Project Me is designed for approximately 8 hours of classroom time to develop understanding of the four dimensions of high performance thinking. (link/show graph)Students will develop an understanding of how preferences shape how we see the world. The program is also designed to build respect for tolerance and diversity – how people with different profiles see their world and those around them.
2. The 5 Career Core Competencies: A 30-hour program to build proficiency in the 5 career core competencies for workforce success students need and employers everywhere want. This program will evolve into a certificate program as the SmartSkills 101 community grows.
